Established in 1967 by the estate of Dr. Malcolm R. Elliott for the purchase of Canadiana in memory of Dr. Elliott and his wife Jean, who were both Acadia graduates of 1908.

Malcolm Eliiott was born in Clarence on February 14, 1884 and received his MD from Harvard University. Dr. Elliott became a physician in Wolfville, and was a long-time member of the Board of Governors of Acadia University, serving as Chairman for many years.

Jean Steadman Haley Elliott was born in Yarmouth on January 19, 1887. She received her MA from Acadia University in 1909, and her BS in Library Science from Simmons College in 1911. She became Acadia's first professionally trained librarian and re-catalogued and classified the library's 15,000-volume collection.

Acadia University Library's digital bookplates recognize the many benefactors whose generous gifts enrich our collections for the entire university community.
