ACADIA ALERT - Campus Closed - Monday January 26, 2026

Acadia University will be closed on Monday January 26, 2026 due to expected weather conditions.

All classes are cancelled for the day. Employees and students are not expected to come to campus and only employees deemed essential are required to report to work. Non-essential employees are not expected to work during the closure. Residence buildings will be accessible, and Wheelock Dining Hall will be open but at reduced hours.

Updates will be posted on www.acadiau.ca and pre-recorded on Acadia’s Information Line: 902-585-4636 (585-INFO). If you need emergency-related information, please contact the Department of Safety and Security by calling 902-585-1103.

Delegation of Privileges

Faculty may delegate borrowing privileges to their teaching assistants and/or research assistants, so that materials may be borrowed by their student staff in the name of the faculty member.  Acadia faculty may delegate borrowing privileges under the following conditions:

Loans will be signed out in the name of the faculty only for teaching assistants or research assistants who are authorized. The TA or RA, who must present his/her own Acadia ID for identification purposes, must indicate to Access Desk staff the name of the faculty member to whose account the items are to be checked out.

All material borrowed upon request of a faculty member will be the responsibility of the faculty member. Overdue notices and any fines are the responsibility of the faculty member.

To delegate privileges, please send an email to access-circ@acadiau.ca, indicating the name of the teaching or research assistant(s), their student number and the date when privileges should start and end. In the email be sure to include specific services required such as:

  • Interlibrary Loan requests and pick-ups
  • Check-out of Vaughan materials
  • Hold request and/or check-out of Novanet materials
