Microdata
Acadia has extensive access to microdata files through Statistics Canada’s Data Liberation Initiative. To use these data files, you must have access to SPSS or another statistical software package. To actually get your hands on this Statistics Canada data, you must request it through your librarian who downloads and prepares it for you. The data is made available for academic study and research only and you must be prepared to sign a license agreement which confirms that your use conforms to these terms.
DLI Survey Collection lists some of the microdata files available. (Be sure to ask if you aren’t sure what files you need.) If you click on the DLI link which follows each entry, you will find information about this survey. You will be able to download some information about the survey (such as the user guide). However, the actual data files are restricted and must be downloaded by your librarian.
