Equity, Diversity, Inclusion, and Accessibility (EDIA)

The Vaughan Memorial Library Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion (EDI) Committee was struck in Fall 2022. The committee is chaired by the EDI Librarian and consists of librarians and staff from Research Services and Access Services.

The goal of the EDI committee is to address equity, diversity, inclusion, and accessibility (EDIA) needs and take on proactive projects to improve EDIA within the library.

Currently the committee is gathering data about accessibility needs and areas of improvement within physical library spaces and working to improve EDIA content on the library website. Long-term, the committee will develop a shared glossary of terms and definitions with the end goal of creating an EDIA statement for the Library.

Accessible Textbooks

The Vaughan Memorial Library provides accessible format books when possible.

Students must be registered with Accessible Learning Services before submitting requests to the Vaughan Memorial Library. Accessible books are provided via Bookshare and coordinated via the Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion Librarian.

Washrooms

Gender-Neutral Washrooms

There are two single-stall, gender-neutral washrooms in the Vaughan Memorial Library.

Room #204, B1 floor.
Room #409, 2^nd floor.

Change Tables

Change tables can be found in the following locations:

Room #204, B1 floor: gender-neutral washroom.
Room #302, Main floor: women's washroom.
Room #303, Main floor: men's washroom.
Room #502, 3^rd floor: women's washroom.

Accessible Washrooms

Physically accessible spaces can be found at the following locations:

Room #204, B1 floor

This single stall washroom has a sharps container and measures 251 cm (99 in) long and 160 cm (63 in) wide. The counter clearance inside the door is 104 cm (41 in). Both elevators can be used to access this washroom. B1 does not have automatic doors.

Room #409, 2nd floor

This is a small, narrow single stall washroom, located in the same hallway as the librarian offices. This washroom measures 180 cm (71 in) long and 94 cm (37 in) wide.
