Interlibrary Loans

Acadia faculty, staff, students, alumni, retired employees, and members of the general public who are registered as borrowers with the Vaughan Memorial Library are eligible for Interlibrary Loan (ILL) service.

ILL borrowers must maintain a valid borrower's status, any suspension or block to library services includes ILL service.

Borrowers must contact the Access Services Desk staff every year to update their library account as all library accounts expire yearly.

Borrowers who habitually return items overdue or fail to follow requirements (including not paying ILL charges, fines, photocopy charges, failure to pick up, or not paying replacement/damage costs) may incur the suspension of ILL privileges.

Interlibrary loans are free to Acadia students, faculty, staff and retired faculty. Community borrowers and Alumni are required to pay a non-refundable fee of $10 per request plus any additional fees incurred by the lending library. Community borrowers and Alumni should specify the maximum amount they are willing to pay in additional fees.

Materials must be picked up and returned at the Vaughan Memorial Library. Some materials may only be available for use within the library.

Materials are signed out to the patron when processed and must be picked up and returned within the loan period provided.

Renewals of materials may be possible, depending on the lending library’s loan policies.

Borrowers are responsible for all ILL materials borrowed on their library card, including proper care and control of items in their possession even when in use within the library. If materials are lost or damaged, the borrower is responsible for all repair or replacement costs in accordance with the policies of the lending library.
