We have teamed up with Acadia Sexualized Violence Response and Education and the Acadia Equity, Diversity, & Inclusion office to organize a series of events for Sexual Assault Awareness Month. Details can be found on the SAAM Reading & Watch List or any of our collaborators Instagram accounts (including ours!).

Thursday, April 7th 12pm

A free yoga and mindfulness session will be held in the Fitness Dance Studio and the Acadia Athletics Complex. Pre-registration is not required!

Thursday, April 7th 4-6pm

After our yoga session, join us for a hybrid event with author Julie Lalonde on the topic of Resilience. We will be serving up free nachos and refreshments at the Axe for folks who join in person. There will also be a link to join the event online.

Tuesday, April 12th 4-6pm

Stories of Resilience and Resistance through the Ages, a panel discussion featuring Mariah Cooper, Allison Smith, Heather Saunders, and Cameron Smith. In person at the Fountain Commons or join over Teams.


SAAM Book Display and Reading & Watch List

Our talented Research Services Assistant, Carol, created this beautiful and poignant book display for Sexual Assault Awareness Month. Featuring fiction and non-fiction titles on the topics of rape culture, sexual harassment, and sexism and a hanging display piece, this display is eye-catching while highlighting a heavy topic. Books can be taken from the display and checked out at the Access Desk.

To accompany this display, we have created a digital SAAM Reading & Watch List. The list expands on the display to include eBooks, films, and print books all in our collections. Take care when engaging with the content, as some folks may find it triggering.
