High School Girls Show How to Play Basketball

Coach Ella Jean Warren was a 1922 graduate of Acadia University who taught at Wolfville High School between 1923 and 1926. Under her guidance, the girls’ basketball team were able to develop their teamwork and win games. In a 18 May 1925 game Wolfville High School beat Kentville 22-12. As reported by the local paper, “The game was fast and a number of thrills were handed out. Wolfville proved the stronger team, their combination work being better....brilliant work was put over by Helen Ingraham and Annie Fitch.” Several of the women, including Helen Ingraham, Marion Eaton and Gertrude Phinney were active in sport at Acadia and in Wolfville.
