Women Take Maritime Hoop Title

The 1935-36 Acadia women’s basketball team were the Maritime Intercollegiate champions. Filled with experienced players, the so-called “punch line” was formed when Shirley Elliott moved from defence to jumping centre joining play maker Fran Roach and high scorer Jean Ingraham on the forward line. The team played Mt Allison University (NB) for the intercollegiate championship and then beat the St John, New Brunswick YWCA to win the Maritime Intercollegiate title.
