Whiz-bangs Capture Wildcat

Intramural and interclass sports were popular at Acadia between 1870 and 1950. The 1921 Athenaeum described what was needed for the “wildcat” league: “No experience necessary, just an old stick (second hand preferred) and a pair of skates. No questions regarding past hockey record.” Varsity hockey players were not allowed in the league. Rhodes Hall, a men’s residence, won the 1920 “wildcat” intramural hockey league. Their perfect season saw victories over South Section, North Section, Middle Section, Pest House, Butt Inn and the Town. Undergraduate humour of the day is evident in both team names and the trophy.
