King Richardson Trophy for Rugby Football

The King-Richardson Company, a Massachusetts-based publisher gave the trophy to the league formed by Acadia University, Mt Allison University (NB) and the University of New Brunswick. It was first awarded in 1903 to the University of New Brunswick. In 1913 Acadia claimed permanent possession of the trophy and was the first team to win it five times. Rugby coach Charles Chipman wrote: “Once more the King-Richardson trophy finds a resting place...This will be its last long rest, for it is destined to rest in peace at Acadia, its natural home for all time.”
