Horton Beats Windsor Twice

The Horton Collegiate team of 1905 had a fairly successful season. They defeated Windsor Academy 6-3, lost to the Dalhousie second team 0 to 3, beat Windsor again 14-0 and finally got revenge on the Dalhousie seconds 3 to 0. Unlike today, there were few regulations about player eligibility; rules for eligibility would be hotly debated during the next few years. Because rules were loose, men who taught at Horton were also able to play on its teams. Joe Howe and C.J. Mersereau, on the right end of the second row, were on staff. Howe, who had been a prominent athlete at Acadia, was a teacher at Horton between 1905 and 1907 and Mersereau was a house master between 1904 and 1906 and principal from 1906 to 1908.
