Engineers Surge, Down Sophs

The Engineers soccer team won all five games and claimed the inter-class title for the 1934-35 year. In the final game of the season, they played the sophomore class. “Holding the lead through a good part of the final game, the Sophomores relaxed sufficiently so that the Engineers were able to tie the score at 2-all then surge ahead shortly before the final whistle to win the game and the interclass title, 3-2, as dusk made free of the word “visibility.” There was hard play during the [league] games, and the men who had been sedentary since arriving at Wolfville played with a vigor remarkable for its effectiveness and its desired result of wholesome fun.” (Acadia Athenaeum, December 1934, 56).
