Acadia Swimmers Successful

By 1946, swimming team members could receive athletic “A”s just like those athletes who competed in football or basketball. Although the student newspaper complained that the swim team had only four practices before their first meet in mid-March, Acadia was able to pull off a win competing against Dalhousie University of Halifax (NS) and the University of New Brunswick. Acadia team members won all three 20 yard races–freestyle, breast stroke and back stroke–and two relays, as well as compiling a number of second and third places. Later in March they won a meet with Dalhousie by two points, capturing the 120 yard medley relay and several sprints.
