Georgina Splashes to Two Records

Swimming maintained its popularity during the 1930s and 1940s and attracted many fine athletes. At the Maritime Intercollegiate Swim Meet in 1950, Georgina Hines broke two Maritime intercollegiate records, setting new marks in both the 20 yard and the 40 yard breast stroke. The Athenaeum commented: “of particular interest to Acadia fans was the record setting made by Georgina Hines, in the Ladies division.” The Acadia team was second to Dalhousie University (NS) in the meet.
